Who is Paul?

Paul Anthony Lee (1959-2006) was not our founder, but he was our inspiration. He was a man of many tactile hobbies; model building, stamp/coin collecting, world travel, a known railfan, and an aquarium hobbyist.

His aquarium itself was never anything particularly glitzy, but it was ‘the’ aquarium that inspired everything we’ve created. He purchased a 29 gallon All Glass Aquarium(now Aqueon) tank/stand and most everything else fish related for quite a while from the now former Aquatropics in Crystal, MN. The first fish his son could remember him keeping in this tank were a pair of silver dollars named ‘Buck‘ and ‘JFK‘.

The same two(err… three) fish that inspired our logo, Simon The Silver Dollar.

His time with us came to an end while battling esophageal cancer for over a year and passed away unexpectedly following his 46th birthday in 2006. Paul spent those 14 months, at home with his family, without anyone truly knowing it was almost time to say good-bye.

The seeds he sowed before his death are what brought Paul’s Aquatics to life.

He shared his hobby with his son and somewhat indirectly- his neighbor as well. In regard to the sentiment and to the hobby that we have both been privileged enough to experience, we dedicated our business to him.

We all loved him dearly and miss him every day.

“Until we meet again.”
